Faith Park

Tirana, Albania 2025

Faith Park -promoted by the Albanian Development Fund-is envisioned as a symbol of Albania’s centuries old tradition of religious co-existence, blending art, landscape and spirituality. Prime Minister Edi Rama describing it as a “living scripture of harmony’ and “a space that invites everyone to marvel at the endurance of nature and the wisdom of coexistence”.  GROSS. MAX. in collaboration with Amanda Levete Architects were amongst the twelve finalist and after their joined presentation shortlisted among the five finalists. Our vision of Faith Park celebrates the role of nature and its stewardship in all religions. The landscape in our vision is not just a scenic backdrop but, on the contrary, key protagonist. In our proposition for Faith Park nature is both the medium and the message. The sloped site has the opportunity for the landscape of Faith Park to be expressed as a spiritual journey culminating in a shared spiritual plane of co-existence carved out the mountain. The landscape of Faith Park captures the variety of manifestations of nature: Nature as wilderness – the realm of the gods untouched by human hands / Nature as cultivated fields and terraces – meadow, crops and fruits / Nature as garden of delight. A key objective is to display and protect a native living plant collection and celebrate the diverse flora of Albania. Its mountain flora, the flora of canyons, the karstic fields and wetlands will provide a learning resource contributing to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage as well as being an attractive setting for people to enjoy and relax in. Faith Park becomes both sanctuary and living landscape celebrating Albania’s harmony between nature, culture and belief.
